Illustrated with photos, this is a description of a hike from the east side of this rugged southwestern Oregon natural area.

Brush Creek
From Port Orford, go south on 101 to Humbug Mountain State Park. Trailhead is near park offices and campground. 0.75 Miles. Moderate. The trail follows Brush Creek and 101 through a narrow canyon.

Castle Beach Trail
From Port Orford, go north on 101 to Cape Blanco Road. Proceed west to end of road. 0.34 Miles. Moderate. Access to tidepools, beachcombing, and sea stacks.

Cove Trail
Follow signs in Port Orford to Port Orford Heads State Park. 0.35 Miles. Difficult and Steep. This trail descends into Nellie's Cove and the Coast Guard Lifeboat launch.

Grassy Knob Trail
From Highway 101 north of Port Orford, go east on county road 196 to Forest Service Road 5105, which ends at the trailhead. 0.8 Miles. Moderate to Difficult. Access to the rugged Grassy Knob Wilderness Area. Trail ends at Grassy Knob Summit, with wilderness and ocean views.

Headland Trail
Follow the signs to Port Orford Heads State Park 0.5 Miles. Easy but with Moderate to Difficult Side Trails. This is a paved trail to a spectacular viewpoint on Port Orford Heads. The side trails lead to other spectacular vantage points.
