Oregon Covered Bridges - Harris Bridge, Benton County
<< Benton County Bridges All Covered Bridges >>

The Harris bridge is recorded in the Benton County records as being constructed in 1936.
However, locals claim the span may have been constructed as early as 1929. Built by H. W. Fiedler, it replaced another covered bridge at the same site.

Notable features include a rounded portal design with narrow lighting windows below the roofline and longitudinal deck planks.
The siding is board and batten style and the roof is shingled.

Harris has been a community since 1890 and bears the name of a pioneer landowner. When the post office was established, residents petitioned for the name of Harris but authorities feared confusion might develop with nearby Harrisburg.

Take Highway 20 from Corvallis through Philomath to Wren. Exit the highway.
Turn right twice to head back underneath the highway to the right at the "Y".
Continue to travel west on Harris Road for approximately 2.5 miles.
