The Wallowa -Whitman National Forest covers 2.3 million acres and is the largest National Forest administrative unit in the Pacific Northwest Region.
Within the forest area you'll find the Blue Mountains, the Wallowa Mountains and the spectacular Snake River canyon bordering Idaho.
Elevations range from 875 feet in Hells Canyon, up to 9845 feet in the Eagle Cap Wilderness.
The Wallowa -Whitman National Forest is the setting for a variety of year-round recreation.

Within the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest, are four wilderness areas:


Each area holds a unique beauty from high alpine lakes, meadows and mountains to wild rivers.
Hiking, horseback riding, fishing, hunting, sightseeing, and camping are popular recreation pastimes in these area.
