Florence Area Visitor Guide, Travel and Tourist Information
Heading north up US 101 an Art Deco styled bridge over the Siuslaw River welcomes you to Florence, Lane County (population: 7,263). Nestled amongst the magnificent shifting sands of the Oregon Dunes and some spectacular headlands Florence is agreat stopping off point.

The Old Town is tastefully restored and has many shops and restaurants along the river.

A tradition says the city was named after state senator A.B. Florence; Lane County representative from 1858-1860. Another says that Florence was named for a French vessel that was wrecked at the mouth of the Siuslaw River in 1875.

Attractions in the area abound.
The Sea Lion Caves are ten miles north of town. here you can descend down into the world's largest sea-cave to see the only mainland rookery of Stellar Sea-Lions in the lower 48.
